CSA 2010 - The New SaferStat System

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has announced that its new Comprehensive Safety Analysis system, CSA 2010 rollout will be pushed back from Summer 2010 to Fall of 2010. For a more comprehensive update on the program, go to http://csa2010.fmcsa.dot.gov.

Uniform Carrier Registration (UCR) Fees Due

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration published Uniform Carrier Registration (UCR) fees for 2010 in the Federal Register on April 27. The new fee structure increases fees substantially. Brokers and forwarders will pay the $76. annual rate which is the same fee as the smallest truck fleets. TIA members can go to the www.ucr.in.gov link, locate your base state and pay the appropriate fee online. 41 states are participating in the on-line UCR system.

C-TPAT - Congressman Bill Owens Takes Lead

Congressman Bill Owens, (D-23-NY, has taken the lead for TIA on the C-TPAT issue, by writting a letter on our behalf to United States Customs and Border Protection, Commissioner Bersin, referencing the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) elgilibility criteria for Third Party Logistics Providers (3PLs) that went into effect in January 2009. The proposed criteria, appears to eliminate all 3PLs that do not operate their own equipment. Click here to read the letter.
