TIA Foundation

The TIA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by the Board of Directors of the Transportation Intermediaries Association. The Foundation provides extensive educational programming and uncovers information about transportation intermediaries through social science research.

TIA Research

The goal of the TIA Foundation is to both educate and produce research necessary to help companies meet the challenges of the competitive marketplace. In 2002 TIAResearch produced the first Compensation in the Brokerage Industry Report. Other projects continue to be developed. TIA Education

The programs of the TIA Foundation are being designed to educate the next generation of industry leaders and provide industry standard education. In addition to the education programs, TIA has administered for more than two decades, the very successful Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) program, and 2003 brought the launch of Third Party Logistics University or 3PLU. 3PLU offers a series of Internet based education courses, designed to train your employees and create a better, more educated staff.

Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) Program

The Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) Program was developed by the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) to increase the professionalism and integrity of property brokerage, meet the educational needs of brokers, and expand basic knowledge of the brokerage and transportation industry through a rigorous certification program. The CTB Program, designed with home study and exam components, provides brokers with a wealth of information on business operations, transportation regulations, and brokerage practices. Third Party Logistics University (3PLU)

The Third-Party Logistics University, is an initiative set forth by the TIA Foundation. Its primary mission is: add recognizable bottom-line benefit to members and their employees by helping them improve their business and personal lives through practical, targeted, hands-on educational offerings. TIA is diligently working to pinpoint the role of transportation intermediaries in the logistics industry, as well as, actively participating in the educational process of those interested in transportation and logistics. Live Seminars

Because even in this technology-driven world TIA recognizes the need for face-to-face instruction, TIA Education offers live seminars. Usually combined with the activities of our Annual Convention and Fall Meeting, TIA occasionally offers stand-alone meetings on appropriate topics.

Global Trading Practices Seminars
Those 3PLs interested in branching out into international freight have an excellent opportunity to learn the specifics of doing business in an increasingly-complex global arena. TIA Foundation will host two Global Trading Practices Seminars in 2008. These seminars will last one and a half days and be conducted by American River International, a recognized leader in international freight. The first seminar will be held May 17 - 18, 2008, at the Marriott Atlanta Airport. Click here for the Atlanta registration form. The cost to attend either seminar is $700 for members and $825 for non-members.
