VILLA VIZCAYA AT DAYTIME
Experience a sixteenth-century Italian Renaissance Palace right on Biscayne Bay! James Deering, the founder of International Harvester, began building this masterpiece in 1914 but the construction of the complicated gardens and villages continued into the 1920s. Vizcaya is noteworthy for adapting European cultural traditions to Miami's subtropical landscape. The house combines European marble and Floridian limestone while the Italianate gardens rely on plants capable of thriving in Miami's climate. Vizcaya opened to the public in 1953 and in 1994 it was designated a National Historic Landmark. You will be taken on a personally guided tour of this magnificent architectural design and view the extraordinary private collection of European decorative arts, period furniture and magnificent tapestries. Following the tour, you can walk the property grounds viewing the spectacular landscaping of premium gardens, fountains and the Florida waterway.
After the tour of Villa Vizcaya, you will dine at Graziano’s which is known for their internationally renowned signature dishes and quality service in their warm, family style restaurant. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to shop at Miracle Mile in Coral Gables which is home to designer shops, art galleries, live theatre, great restaurants, bridal bliss, and houseware heaven!
Tour will depart and return to the Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. Spouse registration includes admittance to the Intermodal Expo “Welcome” Reception, the trade show floor and the spouse tour. Badges are issued only to spouses participating in the Spouse Program. Register today !
