What is the Performance Certified Shield?

The shield is a TIA Performance Certified Program that is a recognized Best Practices program of the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) with guaranteed levels of freight payment. There are five levels that are offered by the TIA: $10,000, $25,000, $50,000, $100,000 and $250,000.

What are the Advantages?

Recognition - The shield will provide you with recognition of the industry's elite. Less than 1% of brokers, forwarders, and other 3PLs are Performance Certified. Also, by joining the TIA Performance Certified Program, you will be a part of a group-advertising program
3PL Industry Leaders – Your current and potential customers will learn that TIA Performance Certified is among the leaders in the 3PL industry, practicing the leading professional standards for business operations while maintaining guarantees protecting their freight.

Improve Credit Scores - TransCredit, one of the two independent agencies rating brokers awards 3 extra points to TIA Performance Certified companies that hold a $100,000 - $250,000 guarantee and 2 points from $25,000 - $50,000.

What are the characteristics of Performance Certified?

TIA members in good standing adhere to the strict TIA Code of Ethics.
Maintain a credit score from TransCredit, INc. or First Advantage of 90% or better.
Use written agreements.
Maintain insurance coverage.
Maintain a verified broker bond.
Maintain written carrier qualification framework.
Maintain higher levels of bond issued by TIA Surety and Avalon Risk Management.

How Do I Become Performance Certified?

Participants must be a TIA member in good standing, abide by the TIA Code of Ethics and have a credit score of 90% or above. Being Performance Certified adds a higher level of trust to the broker/forwarder-motor carrier relationship, and by increasing your level of certification enhances the relationship even further.

In order to apply for the higher bond amounts, applicants must also obtain the required $10,000 financial guarantee from TIASurety/AMTEX, a division of TIA Services Corporation. A Performance Certified Program application must be completed, along with a signed indemnity agreement. A financial insurance review will be conducted to determine a company’s qualifications for the options of the additional bond limit.
