TIA's Veterans Initiative

Transportation Intermediaries Association proudly announces that member XPO Logistics has hired 26 veterans in 2014. The TIA Veterans Hiring Initiative surpassed its initial goal with members hiring more than 100 returning soldiers this year.

“Many of the character traits of military service - loyalty, integrity, a drive to succeed and a fierce work ethic - are core values of XPO as well. Our recruitment efforts have added veterans to our team across our network, and will continue to be a part of our growth. We're proud to have helped TIA meet its goal for the transition of military personnel to civilian careers in transportation logistics," said John Tuomala, Vice President - Talent Management for XPO Logistics.

TIA’s Veterans Hiring Initiative encourages member companies to hire veterans as they leave our country’s service and enter the private sector. The men and women who serve in our armed forces are highly trained, reliable, and hard working; after having served overseas they deserve to come home to good paying jobs. Transitioning into the third party logistics industry is a good fit for many of these veterans.

TIA Chairman and President of Choptank Transport Inc., Geoff Turner pledged to hire five veterans by the end of 2014, and has now bolstered his staff with seven veterans. He stated: “At the beginning of 2014, I challenged our 1400+ TIA members to hire at least 100 veterans. I was touched by the outpouring of support and I am beyond proud that we exceeded our goal. As we move into the new year, let’s continue to reward these fine men and woman with great careers within the logistics industry.”
