Our Mission

The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) is the premier organization for third-party logistics professionals in North America and abroad. Membership at TIA adds value to your business and provides resources for growth.

Transportation intermediaries or third party logistics companies (3PL) act as the facilitators to arrange the efficient and economical movement of goods. They serve tens of thousands of shippers and carriers, bringing together the transportation needs of the cargo interests with the corresponding capacity and special equipment offered by rail, motor, air, and ocean carriers. Transportation intermediaries play a key role in cross border transportation by land, sea, and air.

Since 1978, TIA has been recognized as the trusted voice of the third-party logistics industry. TIA members are able to establish and protect ethical, profitable, and growing businesses in service to their customers.

TIA provides leadership and direction for the 3PL industry and professionals to advance professional standards and business practices, to include the overall image and credibility of the profession and its ultimate contribution to society. TIA serves more than 1,800 third-party logistics members and helps them better manage their companies for growth and profitability. No other association provides more ways for third-party logistics professionals to grow, connect and to protect their business. Members of TIA adhere to a strict code of professional conduct and are among the leader logistics companies in the US.
