You, the 3PL, have to pay your customer for a valid cargo claim.  Whether because of the terms of your contract with the shipper or for purely customer management purposes.  But the carrier–and the carrier’s insurance–will not pay or respond to the claim. This session discusses some possible approaches to the collection of a freight claim on an uninsured basis and some things you can do as a broker to position yourself to mitigate your losses.
