TIAPAC is the federal political action committee (PAC) of the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) and serves as the association’s collective voice in the political process. A PAC is an organization representing a specific cause or interest that raises funds to support key legislators' political campaigns.

TIAPAC works to support and build relationships with Members of Congress who support the 3PL industry. The funds raised by TIAPAC are contributed exclusively by personal contributions from TIA Members, with 100% of the funds going to support federal campaigns. The Airfreight Logistics Conference is responsible for all issues related to air freight.

Additionally, the members of the committee will serve as the liaison between TIA and the Airfreight Forwarders Association (AfA).

The major issues of interest that are currently before the Conference include: Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) regulations and the mandate on scanning & screening of cargo.

TIA is the lone entity representing the United States to the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), the leading global organization representing 3PLs.

The International Logistics Conference is the policy committee that engages with FIATA, the Federal Maritime Commission, U.S. Customs and Border Protection on issues that are critical to non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCCs), freight forwarders, and 3PLs working across North American borders.

Critical issues before the committee include detention and demurrage charges at U.S. ports, port labor issues, cargo security programs, and global regulations such as IMO 2020 and SOLAS.  This committee works with peer groups such as the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA), the National Retail Federation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the North American Strategy for Competitiveness.

The Highway Logistics Conference is responsible for all issues related to truck transportation. The major issues of interest that are currently before the Conference include:

• Development of legislative issues, including the National Motor Carrier Selection Standard
• Implementation of provisions in 2012 MAP-21 and 2015 FAST Act highway bills
• Hours of Service (HOS) rules
• Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and Electronic Onboard Recording Device (EOBR) rules
• Truck size and weight
• Definitions relating to tank vehicles
• Driver detention time
• Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Agreement
• Unified Registration System (URS)
• Highway funding
• Household goods issues
• Broker bond implementation and interlining
• Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rules on sanitary transport of food, and
• U.S.-Mexico Cross-Border pilot program

The Intermodal Logistics Committee is responsible for all issues related to rail relations and intermodal transportation. Additionally, the members of the Intermodal Logistics Conference will serve as liaison between TIA and the Association of American Railroads (AAR) and the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA).

The chair of the Intermodal Logistics Conference is Kristy Knichel, CEO & President of Knichel Logistics. The TIA staff point of contact is Chris Burroughs.
