Dr. Jim Kenny Announced as the Leadership Instructor for TIA’s Executive Development Leadership Program

Alexandria, VA (July 13, 2023) – The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), the premier organization for third-party logistics professionals, today announced that Dr. Jim Kenny will be assuming the role of Leadership Instructor for its Executive Development Leadership Program (ELDP). TIA’s ELDP is an Executive MBA-style program designed to develop future 3PL leaders by teaching students about all of the facets of running a successful freight brokerage.

TIA designed this program to build the foundation for the next generation of TIA members and logistics industry leaders. In the ELDP, students gain a better understanding of the latest methods, techniques and strategies for running a freight brokerage. The program includes two in-person sessions at TIA’s annual conferences, the Capital Ideas Conference & Exhibition and Technovations. In addition to these sessions, the ELDP also includes online virtual instructor-led training to offer maximum flexibility to students.

“Professor Jim Kenny is a wildly successful instructor not just because he educates his students well, but because he engages his students thoroughly. He has decades of experience in brokerage, academia and corporate consulting, and conveys all his knowledge in a compelling way,” said Anne Reinke, TIA President and CEO. “We at TIA are lucky to have him as part of our Education Team and are delighted that he will be part of the Leadership instruction in our Executive Leadership Development Program.”

The ELDP promotes a holistic view of the latest in best practices that directly impact all brokerage businesses. The instruction and program contents are rooted in the fundamentals needed to operate and level up a successful transportation brokerage, including these six core areas of focus: sales & marketing, financial management, HR & contractor management, legal management, operations management and business leadership.

“To teach is to learn twice. That is the fun of getting to teach TIA’s Leadership Class. I focus on helping the attendees learn the material and how to teach it to their teams so they can apply it,” said Jim T. Kenny Ph.D., TIA’s ELDP Instructor. “The focus of the case studies and exercises revolve around the five core principles of leadership and how to apply them to operate a 3PL. I am absolutely thrilled to get to teach this class for TIA.”

TIA is also proud to announce that they are partnering with TrustCentric Consulting to provide third-party leadership training to the ELDP students. TrustCentric is an organizational and leadership development firm that helps leaders, teams and organizations keep trust at the center of everything they do. TrustCentric will use their leadership and organizational knowledge to provide students with the tools, resources and insights they need to successfully lead a freight brokerage.

“I’m so honored and excited that TrustCentric™️ will be partnering with TIA to provide relevant, practical and actionable content on how to strengthen organizational trust as part of the learning experience for the TIA Executive Leadership Development Program! There’s such an opportunity within teams and organizations to improve vital performance indicators such as employee retention, employee advocacy, employee loyalty and employee productivity,” said Cory Scheer, Founder & CEO of TrustCentric Consulting. “Our research shows that one of the most important ways to do that is by strengthening organizational trust. Key takeaways from the course will include: a deeper understanding of The Structure of Trust™️, the building blocks of trust and the practical how-to’s of strengthening organizational trust. I’m confident that TIA ELDP members will be encouraged, challenged and equipped with this important content!”Students can learn more about TIA’s ELDP and register here: https://www.tianet.org/eldp/
