Member Spotlight: Meet Liz Wayne with Able Transport Solutions in Omaha

TIA loves to celebrate our diverse membership. Meet Liz Wayne, owner/president of Able Transport Solutions in Omaha, Neb.

How did you get involved in the industry? How many years have you been working in the industry?

Total accident. I took a job at an asset-based trucking company when I was 18 and planned on it being temporary until I could find something I wanted to do. That was 22 years ago.

Who has inspired your career?

A lot of TIA members – both the legends and current members. I was fortunate early on to learn from both asset-based and strictly brokerage leaders, which gave me a diverse perspective, I use daily in my work.

What has been the greatest challenge/opportunity in your career?

A great challenge and opportunity in the industry is garnering trust, from both the shipper and carrier communities. As brokers, we have a unique opportunity to meet everyone’s needs, even their competing needs. Doing this in a way that differentiates your business from others, in a very competitive environment, never gets old.

What advice would you give to others who want to start working in the industry?

It is a great industry for the person that can balance critical thinking with fast, good decisions. There is no need to reinvent the wheel, just take really good care of the customers needs and you will succeed.

Why is it important for you to be a member of TIA?

TIA ensures I stay up to speed on everything I need to know to run my business. It is also a great place to meet vendors and providers to support my business, many of them really know the freight brokers business and do a great job of adding value.
